Terms of Service

Last updated: May 24, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the chainStone application and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The service

chainStone lets you create environmental compliance records and anchor a cryptographic proof of each record on the Polygon blockchain for independent verification. The Service supports EPA compliance, carbon credit, and timber chain-of-custody registries.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate registration information and are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must be authorized to act on behalf of any organization you register.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are sold as subscriptions or single-record purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You manage and cancel subscriptions through your app store account; cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law or store policy, payments are non-refundable.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Compliance disclaimer

chainStone is a recordkeeping and verification tool. It does not constitute legal, regulatory, engineering, or environmental advice, and it does not guarantee compliance with any permit, statute, or regulation (including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, NPDES requirements, or any other EPA program). You remain solely responsible for your regulatory obligations and for the accuracy and completeness of the data you record.

6. Blockchain and data permanence

You understand that hashes and metadata anchored on a public blockchain are permanent and cannot be altered or removed, and that blockchain networks operate independently of chainStone. We are not responsible for the availability, fees, or behavior of the Polygon network or other third-party infrastructure.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and trademarks, is owned by chainStone and its licensors. You retain ownership of the record content you submit and grant us the rights necessary to operate the Service and anchor your records.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, chainStone will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or regulatory penalties arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or to protect the Service. Anchored records remain on the blockchain after termination.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which chainStone is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
